Got up at 7:30am for my appointment at UMAC-RJH.
I've definitely caught a cold. I had a stuffed nose and a slight headache.
I ate a little bit of applesauce and one slice of toast with vegan margarine and strawberry jam and drank a small cup of black tea with milk and honey. Feeling slightly nauseous being up earlier than other days, not sure if the food is helping or not...
Left for the bus at 8:15. Arrived at the clinic at 8:35 (appt scheduled for 9:00). I'm not having much pain at all this morning, but I can feel where the pain normally presents in my upper right. I feel a bit of pressure like I need to have a BM.
The appointment started early with Dr. Ali Walzak. It was disappointing. She was really nice and empathetic but had no answers and said it was good that nothing had shown up so far as it rules a lot of stuff out. Ordered some more blood tests including AM Cortisol and a colour ultrasound of my RUQ to better show blood flow. She is also going to recommend that Dr. Nero (my GP) refer me to an OB to investigate endometriosis. But that was about it. I asked about other scans like a repeat CT or an MRI and she said ultrasound is the best course, it would show anything significant on that right side, but another CT wouldn’t be very beneficial and is a high dose of radiation. An MRI might be ordered by the OB I see to look for endometriosis but as a General Internal Med specialist, Dr. Walzak wouldn't be requesting one, she would leave it to the OB to decide that. She also thought my being intensely sick from Oct 23-Nov 02 was a GI illness or virus I picked up that was in addition to whatever else is going on, although did say that nausea and pain tend to go hand in hand and elevate each other. She gave me a prescription for Zofran in case I got super nauseous again.
Sat down in the corridor afterward and texted my mum and my husband and cried a bit. I feel like I have no idea what's happening inside me or when or if it will flare up again and debilitate me. I feel scared to make any kind of plans. I called my GP and set up an appointment for tomorrow (Friday) afternoon to do the referral and sign my travel insurance forms.
I walked back to the bus stop and had aching pains in uterus and ovaries area. I rode the bus to my naturopath's office and picked up the other stool collection kit so do a more expansive panel and send it to the states.
I then walked to the grocery store for a few items and then to work with minimal discomfort.
I started working just before 11:00. At 12:00 I went for lunch with a friend at Pho Boi. I ate a summer roll (rice wrap, vermicelli noodles, sprouts, shrimp) in peanut sauce and about 1/4 of a steak pho (first red meat in over two weeks). We then walked around a couple blocks and went back to work without issue until taking a coffee break at 2:45. Walked a few more blocks. I felt a bit tight/sore but overall much better than yesterday.
I walked home at 4:20, lounged around, laid on the pull-out bed, and at 6pm I had dinner. I ate about 2 or 3 oz of steak with mashed potatoes (cream cheese and milk) and blue cheese and 2 Tbsp gravy; I drank a cranberry and soda. Watched some tv and went on the computer from 7:00-9:00, then watched a movie 9:00-11:00 while sitting on the couch. I had some discomfort but also had a child asleep on me so I couldn’t readjust/move to relieve the discomfort.
Went to bed at 11:30 without a hot water bottle for the first time in a while. Slept without issue.
