Thursday, October 11th

Woke up around 7am, feeling pretty OK but anxious. I was told I couldn't have any food after 8am in case I needed surgery. My mum came by and I had some of a latte and a sausage-egg breakfast sandwich from Starbucks. Around 8:30 I was reexamined by the nurse and upon sitting up for the stethoscope on my back I had another bout of pains that was a bit less intense than the day before but so frequent that I began to cry. The nurse then gave me more morphine.
I was moved upstairs to 7 South around 9am. Throughout the day, I walked around the ward two or three times and had some pains mainly while walking but not as severe as the day before nor as frequent as the morning. I didn’t see any doctor until OB#2 Dr. Mills came in around 2:30pm. She said it was a good sign I hadn’t requested more morphine since the morning. She said she suspected a burst ovarian cyst rather than torsion. If I was having true torsion, I would need narcotic level painkillers and the pain would be constant. She also said my ovary had good (but not great) blood flow on the ultrasound. I was discharged and advised to come back if the pain got more severe and consistent or if I showed signs of infection such as a fever. I asked how long the intermittent pain was considered normal, she said it varies for everyone, it may be days or weeks, to take it easy and take OTC pain killers.
My mum picked me up around 3pm and took me to her house overnight as it was closer to the hospital. I took some Tylenol and slept until 7am the next morning without issue.

Complaints: intermittent squeezing pains in lower left pelvis, tired
Food: minimal
Meds: Morphine in the morning, Tylenol
BMs: normal
